Paquito D’Rivera, extraordinary saxophonist, clarinettist and composer, has brought together Brazilian rhythms and stylish vocals on the Grammy-winning project Brazilian Dreams . Backed by his outstanding band and the luscious vocals of the New York Voices, this is a sultry trip to the enchanting world of Latin and Brazilian jazz.D’Rivera fell in love with harmonious vocal quartet music in the 1960s. At the same time he became devoted to Brazilian music, during the heyday of Bossa Nova and the emergence of the ‘Duke Ellington of Brazil’, Antonio Carlos Jobim. He has always dreamed of combining these two sounds. Brazilian Dreams realises that dream. With seven Grammy Awards to his name, Paquito D’Rivera will delight audiences with his distinctively intimate musical interpretations of Jobim’s classics, works by other contemporary Brazilian composers as well as his own celebrated compositions. Famed for their excellence in jazz and the art of group singing, the velvet vocal arrangements of the New York Voices complement superbly D’Rivera’s virtuosic playing. Brazilian Dreams promises the sensuality and relaxation of a warm summer night.
